Chapter 581 - 600: Little Fists, Iron Hammer Beatdown

None of the 100 people standing here were incompetent.

For a beginner, a light Mecha was challenging, but not overwhelmingly so.

Everyone quickly boarded their Mechas. The venue was enormous, making it impossible for those seated on the high platform to watch so many duels at once. To solve this, large projection screens were positioned in front of each section, randomly broadcasting footage from the various numbered platforms.

Just then, Jiang Qiuqiu’s figure flashed across one of the screens.

The members of the Veteran Fan Club all nudged one another. "There she is, there she is! We see her!"

Jiang Qiuqiu quickly boarded her Mecha. This was her first opponent: a publicly recruited veteran from Class A2. She was facing a formidable enemy right from the start.

Once they were both on the platform, the fight began with a direct exchange of blows.

It was a trade of punch for punch. However, Jiang Qiuqiu had the advantage in speed. Furthermore, she was perfectly ambidextrous; for every one punch her opponent threw, she could land two.

When piloting a Mecha, a person’s spiritual power connects directly with the machine. While a pilot feels no pain from a blow to the Mecha’s hull, the resulting shockwaves are fed back into their Spirit Sea. Taking too many hits can easily cause injury or discomfort to the Spirit Sea.

So, after a period of trading blows, Jiang Qiuqiu’s opponent quickly realized this strategy wouldn’t work.

He quickly put some distance between himself and Jiang Qiuqiu, then attempted a flying kick.

As a veteran, his advantage over Jiang Qiuqiu was his greater familiarity and proficiency with Mechas, gained from having spent far more time piloting them.

’My punches are too easy for her to counter. I’ll use kicks instead.’

’As long as I can land a kick, the force will be much greater. A few solid hits and Jiang Qiuqiu is sure to go down.’

It was a sound strategy. Once he began deliberately evading, Jiang Qiuqiu did indeed find it much harder to land a hit on him.

However, kicking Jiang Qiuqiu was easier said than done. Inside her Mecha, she focused intently, analyzing every aspect of the opposing machine. ’A slight tilt of the body... he’s definitely about to make a move.’

The direction of its arms and the positioning of its other leg could, to some extent, predict the trajectory of the kick.

Armed with this foresight, Jiang Qiuqiu was able to dodge swiftly just before disaster struck.

She would dodge, and her opponent, refusing to believe it was futile, would give chase.

After a few rounds of this cat-and-mouse game, her opponent began to slow. A drop in speed meant his stamina was starting to run out. This was the exact moment Jiang Qiuqiu had been waiting for.

When her opponent launched another flying kick, Jiang Qiuqiu didn’t dodge immediately. Instead, she stood her ground for a moment. Just as the light Mecha was about to connect, she abruptly sidestepped. By then, her opponent, certain he would land the blow, had already poured a massive amount of spiritual power into controlling that leg.

It was already an unwieldy attack; changing its trajectory at the last second was impossible. He could only brace himself as his Mecha crashed onto the competition platform.

The violent impact made the pilot’s face turn white. Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Qiuqiu charged in from the side and knocked him down with a single punch.

Being knocked down once didn’t mean it was over. The Mecha struggled, trying to get back on its feet, but Jiang Qiuqiu wasn’t about to give it that chance.

She dropped to one knee, raised her fist, and began raining down blows on the Mecha’s rib plating, pounding away like she was tenderizing meat.

The speed of her assault was terrifying. The pilot, who had still been struggling, was hit by a wave of spiritual feedback and promptly blacked out.

The match was decided. The referee instructor at the side raised his hand. "Platform 27, Jiang Qiuqiu is the winner!"

Only then did Jiang Qiuqiu stop her assault.
