Chapter 76 I'm Willing
Chapter 76 I'm Willing
"I do," Chen Wei'an said.
As soon as she said those three words, she suddenly felt that all the fatigue, tension, and eye-rolling from revising contracts late into the night had been worth it.
Lin Dong nodded, his face showing no exaggerated expression, but Chen Wei'an noticed a slight upturn at the corner of his mouth.
"it is good."
He picked up a hotel notepad from the side and wrote down Uncle Cai's phone number and email address. "This is Wang Caisheng, we all call him Uncle Cai. He manages the administration, finance, and external liaison in Shenzhen."
You'll then coordinate with him to get the company registration process going.
He paused.
"I've decided on a company name—Orient Trading. Simple and easy to remember."
Chen Wei'an took the note and looked down at the handwriting.
Lin Dong's handwriting is very steady, with clean and crisp strokes, without any unnecessary frills.
She softly replied, "Okay."
"You can build the initial team first, and report the budget directly to Uncle Cai."
Lin Dong continued, "We can initially locate our office in the hotel's business center, or rent a flexible workspace on a short-term basis. We'll consider a long-term location once the business stabilizes."
"clear."
"Go through Anderson's supply information with him every week. If you're unsure about anything, call me anytime; don't worry about the time difference."
"it is good."
"The Rossi family's new company has already had its shareholding structure finalized. They can manage the day-to-day operations themselves, but we need to keep an eye on the financial audit. You'll be in charge of following up on this from now on."
"Um."
Lin Dong explained each point one by one, and Chen Wei'an responded to each point one by one.
As the sunlight outside the window gradually brightened, more customers entered the coffee shop, and the clinking of cups and saucers became more frequent.
After giving his last instructions, Lin Dong picked up the glass of ice water and took a sip.
"That's all for now." He put down his cup. "I'll add more later if I think of anything else."
Chen Wei'an carefully put the note into the folder, placing it together with the signed documents.
"Mr. Lin." She looked up.
Lin Dong looked at her.
"Thank you," she said.
Lin Dong could sense it.
That wasn't just polite talk; it was a genuine expression of emotion.
He wanted to say, "Thank you too."
Thank you for believing in me from the beginning.
But he didn't say anything.
He simply nodded and didn't say anything more.
10:00 AM, San Francisco Harbor, Area C.
Anderson arrived twenty minutes earlier than the agreed time.
He was wearing a brand new dark blue casual suit today, his hair was neatly combed, and his chin was clean-shaven.
Upon seeing Lin Dong's car enter the gate, he immediately went to greet it, his steps so fast they seemed to be jumping.
"Lin! Magic Lin!"
He opened his arms and gave Lin Dong a firm hug. Lin Dong froze for a moment, but did not pull away.
"You seem very happy today," Lin Dong said calmly after Anderson relaxed.
Happy? Of course I'm happy!
Anderson laughed, turning to point at the massive warehouse behind him. "Those guys who kept me up for three days straight are going to disappear from my ledgers today! Do you know what that feels like?"
He took a deep breath and exaggeratedly closed his eyes.
"The taste of freedom!"
Lin Dong didn't respond, but just watched as the port workers hoisted the last batch of aluminum into the container.
In the morning light, the silvery-white metal surfaces gleamed with a cold luster, and the pieces were neatly stacked into the shipping containers.
Chen Wei'an stood to his side and slightly behind, holding a folder in her hand, looking at it quietly.
Anderson walked over to Lin Dong and followed his gaze to the aluminum materials.
"You can't bear to part with it?" he asked.
"It's not that I'm reluctant to part with it," Lin Dong said, "it's just that I finally got it."
Anderson glanced at him and stopped joking.
An hour later, the last container drove out of Zone C.
The gate barriers were raised, and the trucks slowly drove out of the port, merging into the traffic heading towards Auckland.
Lin Dong stood there watching the car disappear at the end of the road.
Anderson rubbed his hands together vigorously and let out a long sigh.
"Alright," he patted Lin Dong on the shoulder, "now it's your turn. What's the schedule?"
Lin Dong withdrew his gaze.
"Go back," he said. "There's still a ton of stuff going on in Shenzhen."
"Leaving today?" Anderson was somewhat surprised.
"Tomorrow," Lin Dong turned to Chen Wei'an, "book me a flight back to Shenzhen tomorrow afternoon."
Chen Wei'an nodded, took out her phone, and started operating it.
A few seconds later, she looked up: "Is the Cathay Pacific flight at 2 PM tomorrow okay?"
"Can."
Chen Wei'an lowered her head and continued to swipe her finger across the screen.
She did not speak.
But Lin Dong noticed that she tapped the screen a little slower than usual.
The car drove back to the city from the port.
Chen Wei'an gripped the steering wheel, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.
Lin Dong leaned back in the back seat, closing his eyes to rest.
Anderson, sitting in the passenger seat, was excitedly sending a voice message to an unknown person, informing them, "That damn batch of goods is finally cleared out. We can have a drink tonight."
The only sound in the carriage was his voice.
Forty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the Peninsula Hotel.
Anderson got out of the car first, saying he was going to make an important phone call.
Lin Dong opened the car door, and Chen Wei'an got out of the car and followed him into the lobby.
The elevator doors closed.
Only two people remained in the cramped space.
Chen Wei'an stood behind Lin Dong, watching the elevator numbers change one floor at a time.
12, 13, 14...
Her fingers tightened slightly at her sides.
"Mr. Lin."
The elevator stopped on the 15th floor.
Lin Dong turned to look at her.
Chen Wei'an met his gaze.
She wore light makeup today, with a touch of very light brown at the outer corners of her eyes, and her lip color was brighter than a few days ago.
Lin Dong noticed, but didn't say anything.
"The plane tickets are booked."
Her voice was steady. "I'll be transiting in Hong Kong tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM, landing in Shenzhen at 10 PM. Should I contact Uncle Cai in advance to arrange airport pickup?"
"Okay, tell him."
"it is good."
The elevator doors opened.
Lin Dong stepped out of the elevator.
"Mr. Lin."
Her voice came from behind, a little softer than before.
Lin Dong stopped and turned around.
Chen Wei'an stood by the elevator door and did not follow them out.
"Is there anything else?"
Chen Wei'an looked at him and pursed her lips slightly.
The corridor was quiet, with only the low hum of the air conditioner blowing air.
"It's alright now."
She said, "I'll take you to the airport tomorrow."
She pressed the close button.
The elevator doors slowly closed, obscuring her face.
Lin Dong stood still for two seconds.
Then he turned around, swiped his card, pushed open the door, and walked into the room.
He let out a soft breath the moment the door closed behind him.
He knew exactly what she wanted to say.
He's not made of wood.
But he couldn't respond.
I don't know how to like it.
For twenty years in his previous life, he had only two things on his mind: making money and paying off his debts. After the debts were paid off and his parents were gone, he suddenly realized that he didn't know where to go.
What does it feel like to like someone?
He had long forgotten.
Perhaps I never learned it.
