Chapter 10 The Battle of New York
Chapter 10 The Battle of New York
Li Ang rubbed his eyes vigorously, and it took him a while to recover. Upon seeing the person in front of him, he instinctively spoke.
"Are you cosplaying Chun-Li? The hairstyle isn't accurate."
The newcomer wore a short blue cheongsam, had black hair in pigtails, was around 20 years old, wore light makeup, and had a dignified appearance, but dressed in a playful style. There was no doubt that she was beautiful.
"Hey, I didn't realize you were from Runan when your back was turned. Are you from Runan or are you from the same country?"
Li Ang looked him over and switched to Mandarin. "I'm from both sides of the Yellow River, I grew up drinking from the Mother River, what do you think?"
"Oh, I grew up drinking the water of the Liao River, do you understand Fengtian?"
Northeastern women, they really do have that vibe.
Two Chinese people were chatting in New York City, a city littered with the remains of American corpses.
Li Ang noticed a small, "beef cow" lying on a Ford parked on the side of the road, its engine hood caved in. It was probably the work of his compatriot. Li Ang could guess that this little monster had just tried to ambush him since he couldn't open his eyes.
"You're a mutant too, what abilities do you have?"
"I'm just an ordinary person. Haha, I used the Shangqing Golden Light Mantra and the Maoshan Valley Clothing Technique." As she spoke, she even gesticulated her legs a couple of times.
You've wandered onto the wrong set.
While there are superpowers in this world, aren't there some kinds of magic?
Li Ang expressed his doubts and asked directly.
"Really? Do we really have magic where we live? Can you use it? My eyes hurt and I couldn't see anything."
Li Ang was genuinely curious about this; watching heroes like those from Homelander flying around every day was really uninteresting.
"My aunt said that one should not show off unless necessary, and that magic should only be used in dangerous situations."
Ye Ziqing refused decisively, raised her chin, and asked Li Ang in return.
Her fair neck was briefly revealed; this girl was incredibly fair-skinned.
In the US, many girls deliberately go to beauty salons to get tanned using machines, just for the so-called "healthy tan".
But Li Ang still thought Ye Ziqing's fair and clean appearance was better.
"You're a mutant, right? I saw everything with my laser eyes just now. I'm asking you, are you injected with a mutation agent, or are you a mutant?"
As she spoke, her eyes sharpened as she stared intently at Li Ang's expression.
"I'm a police officer. This is America, and this is our department's jurisdiction. I should be the one asking you who you are."
"Okay, I'll start with mine. Global Mutant Affairs Center Headquarters, Crisis Investigator 11, codename Snake."
Li Ang knew that the building where he had previously met Homelander was the U.S. headquarters of the Mutant Affairs Center, while Ye Ziqing was referring to the global headquarters.
Although I've never heard of any crisis investigators or code names, they don't seem inclined to lie.
"I don't understand what your position is, what are you doing here?"
"Of course we're supporting New York! Your American election candidate, that old man Biden, is really stubborn. He's afraid we'll launch a sneak attack, so he won't let anyone in for ages."
"What? Your people? Has your Global Mutant Management Center sent other people to New York? Where are they?"
Li Ang looked around and saw nothing but corpses and wreckage. Moreover, Ye Ziqing seemed to have just entered the country. All the airports in New York must have been closed. How did she get here?
Ye Ziqing looked up, shielding her eyes from the sunlight, and pointed to an inconspicuous black dot against the blue sky.
"That's our headquarters. I parachuted down beforehand."
Li Ang had just had laser eye surgery, and his eyes were still very sensitive. He stared wide-eyed at the sky for a long time, only to find that the black spot seemed to be getting bigger and bigger.
I initially thought it was just a large modified machine carrying a hundred or so people, but then the so-called "headquarters" kept declining.
The entire sky was obscured, and Li Ang was speechless.
The ground for over a dozen blocks around was shrouded in shadow; it was a space carrier in flight.
A gap was opened beneath the aircraft carrier, and a long distance away, a swarm of planes, which looked no bigger than fennel seeds from afar, poured out.
These planes scattered to various parts of New York.
As the helicopters approached Li Ang, he could see their shape clearly. They were roughly rectangular in shape with two helicopter rotors mounted at the front and back, a rather peculiar design.
Although they are less than one-thousandth the size of an aircraft carrier, you only realize how much larger these aircraft are than normal helicopters when you get close.
Upon landing, the hatch opened to reveal a group of people dressed in black bulletproof vests, wearing face shields and helmets, and carrying long-barreled rifles that appeared to be modified MK 14s. Each person had noise-canceling headphones, athletic exoskeletons, and thermal imaging headsets.
"Well-equipped" is an understatement; only "luxurious" can be described as such.
Ignoring the training of a soldier to use these equipment proficiently, the equipment itself alone might cost more than $500,000 to equip a complete set.
Li Ang was dumbfounded.
It is well known that the United States has very few troops stationed on its own soil, even in places like New York.
Since the start of the riots, all available troops have been deployed, totaling approximately 6000 men. There are only 15000 troops in the entire state of New York, and the remaining few thousand are probably still on their way.
Li Ang roughly estimated that the aircraft carrier had just deployed nearly a thousand elite troops, and with such a large aircraft carrier itself coming to the United States, it would be crazy for Biden not to be afraid.
Li Ang wanted to say a few words to express his feelings, but Ye Ziqing raised an eyebrow and gestured for him to continue looking at the aircraft carrier.
Another bottom hatch opened, and this time the landing platform was released. A familiar figure flew out of the aircraft carrier and hovered there on the underside of the carrier.
It must be said that although the national flag cape is useless in combat, it is highly recognizable.
People of the motherland.
Several more people came down from the platform, but they didn't have a very obvious logo like the Homelander cloak, so Li Ang didn't recognize them.
Ye Ziqing, on the other hand, was very enthusiastic about announcing the names of the dishes.
Those people were none other than "Yellow Flash," the black Flash who had met Li Ang once before.
A German beauty, Light Woman, who can materialize "light" and control it as a weapon. Before awakening her superpowers, she was a Victoria's Secret model.
He possesses faster flight capabilities than Homelander, but lacks laser eyes and is slightly weaker in strength. He is a superhuman specializing in speed, a young American, and a supernova.
He can control water vapor and create ice out of thin air without limit. He's a Mexican, the Ice Man.
Apart from Supernova, the other three superheroes are all members of the Seven Superheroes led by Homelander.
The Homelander seemed to be explaining something to them, and then took the lead in setting off.
Swooping down from high above, judging from where Li Ang was standing, he must be heading to Manhattan, the most important district in New York.
Then the only two supernovae with the ability to fly followed closely behind, jumping off the platform and flying out.
The other superheroes, who lacked the ability to fly, boarded separate transport aircraft and landed in various parts of the city.
After the hero was released, the aircraft carrier began to take off. The dozen or so engines at the bottom that emitted blue auras and burning rings started, and the aircraft carrier took off.
The sunshine and blue sky reappeared before my eyes.
Honestly.
Li Ang had heard about this thing online every day, but he never expected the real thing to be so amazing.
"Are you stunned? The view from the top deck is actually even better."
"Do you often sit in this seat when you work there?"
"It's alright. I travel all over the world most of the time, and the headquarters is also flying around. I've only flown around twenty or thirty times."
"Um, if there's no charge, is there any other way but I'd like to sit down too?"
Ye Ziqing chuckled and patted Li Ang on the shoulder. "We're indeed from the same hometown. When you see a tourist attraction, ask if there are any tickets. The Prometheus doesn't require tickets, and it doesn't allow non-staff members to enter. If you're not a threat, quit your job as a police officer, and I might be able to introduce you to a job."
"Really? I really want to quit my job."
"Of course, my dorm needs someone to clean the toilets."
"No way, you're kidding me."
"Sorry, I'm always traveling for work and rarely run into people from my hometown. Seeing you wearing an American police uniform and speaking Mandarin, asking me with the same sincere look as a child at an amusement park if I can ride an aircraft carrier, I just couldn't hold back."
Li Ang didn't find it funny at all.
"Hey, why are you wearing a cheongsam? You should know that foreigners consider it a stereotype."
"So what if I wear it? The cheongsam is a unique feature of our culture. Why can't I wear it if those stupid foreigners say a few things? Besides, I have such a great figure, I look so good in it. It's not like you're the one who decides what I wear, so why are you so nosy?"
"Alright, alright, what are we going to do now? You've already sent down so many soldiers and superheroes, is there any work left for a lowly policeman like me to do?"
"Let's just wait and see. Anyway, all of New York has fallen, and there's nowhere else to go."
Ye Ziqing strode forward along the street as she spoke. Li Ang walked behind her, and with each step he took, the slit in his cheongsam opened up below his thigh.
Twin ponytails, sneakers, cheongsam.
Strange outfit, but a top-notch figure.
Li Ang suddenly asked, "Xiao Ye, how old are you?"
"19".
Wow, she's a bit too big! After seeing so many blondes and blue-eyed girls, seeing such a cute little black-haired girl is a bit overwhelming.
Li Ang couldn't help but speak.
