Chapter 73 Moderate Exercise
Chapter 73 Moderate Exercise
"Okay, I understand."
After hanging up Danielle's call, Tessa looked up at everyone in her office and said something.
"Daniel has important personal matters to attend to, and she may not be able to participate in the follow-up operations. She called me hoping I could let everyone know that she would be able to come back once she was done with her work."
"She should send everyone an apology message soon."
As soon as Tessa finished speaking, several people's phones started ringing one after another.
Although the messages were short, the specific content of the apologies varied.
It's clear that Danielle is both busy and guilty right now.
"Her hand speed is pretty fast... I wish she could draw her gun that quickly."
Li Wei casually commented.
Thomas, however, did not go astray.
"It's alright, Danielle's mission is complete, now it's my turn."
Antonio was somewhat surprised.
"Are you done with the lawsuit against the media? So quickly?"
"I definitely can't handle it all by myself, but I have a legal team at home. I can just remotely control the overall direction over the phone, and leave the specifics to them."
Thomas's matter-of-fact tone made Levi want to punch him alone.
Yes, he was provoked by Thomas's unintentional "flaunting of wealth" once again.
Then Li Wei actually punched him, not too hard, not too soft.
Thomas wasn't hurt, but as he clutched his stomach, his eyes were filled with confusion.
Why did you hit me?
Instead of answering Thomas, Li Wei took out his phone and called Wesker, putting it on speakerphone.
Wesker answered the call quickly.
"Do you know how difficult it is for someone who needs crutches to track and protect an able-bodied person? And did Danielle drive that fast? I almost lost her several times."
Wesker complained on the phone.
"So you'd better understand now, I'm very busy."
Levi didn't take Wesker's words seriously.
"You weren't alone. Arafat and Gris went with you, didn't they?"
"Are you busy or not? If not, I'm hanging up."
Clearly, Wesker doesn't have the time to waste chatting with Levi right now.
Li Wei stopped arguing and instead summarized what had just happened in one sentence.
"I couldn't help but punch Thomas just now, and he asked me why."
"Do I even need a reason? I want to punch him as soon as I see him panting! Oh, and give him a punch for me while you're at it."
After saying that, Wesker hung up the phone.
Having heard everything clearly, Thomas immediately took two steps back from the sofa, creating distance between himself and Levi.
Li Wei didn't actually go up and hit Thomas again; he just shrugged and sat there.
"You see, like Wesker said, you can be really annoying sometimes."
Thomas was both amused and exasperated, because he still didn't understand why he had been beaten up.
However, he didn't dwell on it too much, and instead looked at Antonio.
"Antonio, you and Tessa need to focus on the establishment of the group."
"So I think it's better for me to handle the matter of contacting Gregory Chandler."
No one present objected to Thomas's proposal.
Li Wei even stood up abruptly.
"Then let's go, I'll go with you."
Thomas shook his head.
"If you come with me, what will happen to Tessa?"
Antonio understood the implied meaning.
"Even though I wasn't as good as Levi when I was young, Thomas, don't you think you've been a little offensive?"
"Sorry, Antonio."
Thomas sincerely apologized.
"But I really don't think it's necessary. I'm just going to see a lawyer, not some 'super killer'."
"Let's meet, I'll find a way to get him to talk, and then I'll come back."
Just then, Thomas's phone rang.
He took it out, glanced at it, and then showed it to everyone.
"You see, Gregory's house isn't far from the building we're in now. It only takes about ten minutes to drive there one way, and twenty minutes round trip."
Thomas then made a joke.
"Unless there's a mole among us, they won't even have time to set up sniper positions. What do you say, Li Wei?"
Of everyone present, no one was more professional than Li Wei in this matter.
Li Wei nodded, acknowledging Thomas's statement.
At that point, he showed no intention of sitting down.
"I'm following you because you're also my friend. I can't gamble your lives on that 'what if'."
"Tessa is in a fixed location in the building, and with Antonio by his side, his safety is higher, and the situations he needs to deal with are not as complicated."
As he spoke, Li Wei suddenly turned to look at Tessa.
I hope you understand.
Tessa simply smiled and nodded, without saying anything more.
Seeing this, Li Wei turned around and looked at Thomas.
I hope you can understand.
Thomas glanced at Levi, then at Tessa, and finally looked at Antonio.
"Okay, I understand."
After saying that, he got up and walked out, and Li Wei followed him out.
Thomas didn't stop him; he simply tossed his car keys to Levi.
"Take my car."
Levi took the key and noticed that although it was still a Lincoln, the shape of the key was different.
"You got a new car?"
Thomas shook his head.
"It's not exactly a new car; I just picked a Lincoln Continental from the spare garage. It's relatively low-key and can be seen as politically correct in embodying the 'American spirit.'"
This was the first time Li Wei had heard the suffix "spare" before the word "garage".
Li Wei weighed the car keys in his hand, glanced at Thomas's nonchalant expression, and suppressed the urge to punch this despicable "nouveau riche."
"Let's skip the elevator and take the stairs. It'll be a good workout, and it'll be faster too."
Before Thomas could react, Levi grabbed his arm and started running after him.
Fifteen minutes later, when they arrived at the underground parking lot, Li Wei sat directly in the driver's seat without even panting.
Thomas then pulled a brown paper bag from the car and squatted down to vomit uncontrollably.
Looking at his pitiful appearance, Li Wei felt a little guilty again.
He pulled an electrolyte effervescent tablet from his first-aid kit, tossed it into a mineral water bottle in the car, shook it, and then got out of the car to hand it to Thomas.
"Drink it. If you keep vomiting, you'll become dehydrated."
"Don't rush to swallow. Rinse your mouth first to clean your oral cavity and allow your lungs to fully relieve the burden before swallowing."
Thomas took it and instinctively said, "Thank you."
The voice just fell.
"vomit!"
Thomas held up the brown paper bag again and vomited.
After vomiting, Thomas drank half a bottle of water following the procedure Levi had instructed, and immediately felt much better.
Then, he didn't blame Li Wei, but just sighed.
"Looks like... I should train more in the future."
After saying that, he sat down in the passenger seat.
Then, he couldn't help but add another sentence.
"Moderate exercise."
Li Wei, who had already sat back in the driver's seat, glanced at him.
"You decide."
